This Privacy Policy explains what personal information RivalScan ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using RivalScan, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account details — your email address and store / business name. Your password is handled and stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see it in plain text.
Usage data — activity such as the searches you run and features you use, so we can run and improve the Service.
Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor, Paystack. We do not store your card or bank details.
Technical data — basic device and browser information, and small pieces of data stored in your browser to keep the app working.

2. How we use your information

To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
To manage your account and subscription
To send you essential account messages and a welcome email when you sign up
To prevent fraud, abuse, and misuse
To respond to your questions and provide support

3. Data stored on your device

Some information — such as your watchlist and scan history — is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data will remove it.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate RivalScan, who process data only on our behalf:

Supabase — secure accounts and database
Paystack — payment processing
Brevo — sending account and welcome emails

We may also disclose information if required by law.

5. Emails

We send you account-related messages and a welcome email after signup. Any non-essential or promotional emails will include a way to unsubscribe.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Contact below).

7. Your rights

You can request to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Just contact us and we'll help.

8. Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

RivalScan is intended for business users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children.

10. International processing

Our providers may process your data on servers located outside your country. By using the Service, you consent to this.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new date.
